QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Is this all I would need to power my Axis 214 camera over a cat5 cable running from my WS-POE-8-48v60w unit?

Looking at the Axis 214, it operates at 11-13v at 14 watts, so the WT-GAF-12v12w will work well with you injector as is.  This all you need.

  • Do you have a weatherproof version of this?

We do not offer a weatherproof version of this splitter. However, many of our customers will use this item outside in an enclosed weatherproof box. The operating temperature for this product is -10 to 60 degrees Celcius (40-140 F)

  • Would this adapter be compatible with a PTZ PT30x-SDi-GY-G2 camera?

Yes, the PTZ PT30x-SDi-GY-G2 shows that it takes 12V12W DC input for power.

  • What is the efficiency of the dc-dc converter?

The GAF-12v12w is 90-95% efficient; it draws less than 0.5 watts.

  • Does POE remain on the ethernet connector of this splitter or is all the power stripped off the data lines? I'm looking to isolate a computer from POE.

Power is not available on the output male RJ45. Input POE goes into the female RJ45 (w/ LEDs) and output power and data are split. Power out is available on the 2.1 DC and data only is on the male RJ45.

  • Do you know if the connector is compatible with the Verizon SLS-BU10B cell extender?

Yes, this adapter will meet the power requirements for your Verizon SLS-BU10B cell extender. This splitter is compatible with 802.3af/at 44-57 volt range PoE input.

  • I read a review (on another site) that stated that the 12V output power was floating on a 36V pedestal, i.e. the output power was non-isolated, and the "ground" output was at a level of +36V relative to system ground, and the "+12V" output was at a level of +48V relative to system ground. Can you clarify the design? This would be a problem for my application, as there may be a ground path from my powered unit back to system ground.

Thanks for your question. This was an issue in earlier versions of the splitter, but the design was updated to be isolated after version 3 (we are now on V6).

  • I am looking for a isolated PoE splitter same features as WT-GAF-12v12w has ?

    WT-GAF-12v12w is an isolated device

  • We are looking to power a fanless computer system that has a 12v 3A power supply. Would this be safe to use for that application?

The GAF-12V12W is not recommended for a 12v3a application since it is rated for up to 1A output. Our GBT-12V60W is rated for 12v4.5a output, though and might be a better fit for your application.
